California Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown has announced an energy plan that he says would generate 20,000 additional megawatts of renewable power in the next decade and create 500,000 jobs. The power would come from a combination of small installations and large projects, which should be fast-tracked by state regulators, he says.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors got on board with two other associations of elected officials on Tuesday when it adopted a producer responsibility resolution. Based on a framework developed by the Product Policy Institute, the resolution calls for producers to take responsibility for designing, manufacturing and producing end-of-life systems for their products.

Tesla Motors says it hopes to raise $185 million in its initial public offering. Early this year in its initial filing, the automaker said it planned to raise $100 million. But in May, Tesla announced a deal in which it will sell $50 million worth of shares to Toyota.
