What Sweden Can't Teach Us

Sweden. It's the end all, be all of sustainable energy policy on a national scale, right? The government there does what many of us in sustainablility fields here in the United States wish ours would do even as we struggle to see at least one climate bill passed, right? All that might be true, but as Helene York points out in a new commentary on our site today, Sweden's food choices leave a lot to be desired.

Recently I was invited to speak at the Swedish Institute of Food and Biotechnology (SiK), a think tank-consultancy that produces first rate research on food systems. My visit confirmed that we can learn a lot from our progressive European cousin but, ironically, they aren’t leading the way on reducing emissions associated with their food choices.

This commentary is very interesting food for thought (sorry). Give it a read and if you're so moved, let us know what you think in the comments below.
